Pushilin Announced the Adoption of Countermeasures for the Supply of Missiles to Ukraine

The supply of French long-range SCALP missiles to Ukraine will not change the situation for the DPR, at the same time, weapons pose a danger to other regions of Russia, but the Russian Armed Forces are taking appropriate response measures. This was stated by the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

“For the DPR, the situation will not change much, because, taking into account the existing weapons that Ukraine has, almost the entire territory is in the affected area from the enemy. Therefore, these long-range missiles, of course, pose a danger to other regions of the Russian Federation. Alas, this is true, but the Russian Armed Forces are taking appropriate countermeasures,” he said ( quoted by RIA Novosti).

According to Pushilin, information about the receipt of SCALP missiles by Kiev was not news to the Russian authorities. The acting head of the DPR drew attention to the fact that when Western countries announce the supply of this or that weapon to Kyiv, “with a high probability” it is already on the territory of Ukraine.

On July 11, French President Emmanuel Macron, upon arrival at the NATO summit in Vilnius, announced the transfer of long-range SCALP missiles to Ukraine. He explained this decision with the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the offensive.

Reuters, citing a French diplomatic source , said that a total of Paris will transfer 50 missiles to Kiev. A source at the Republic’s Armed Forces Ministry told AFP that the first missiles were delivered at the moment Macron announced it. The day before, on August 6, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky demonstrated the SCALP rocket in his Telegram channel.

The Kremlin considered France’s move to be erroneous. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that the transfer of weapons “is fraught with consequences for the Ukrainian side, because, naturally, this will lead to the adoption of countermeasures.” The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the supply of SCALP missiles to Ukraine would lead to an escalation of the conflict.
