Norway will give Ukraine F-16 fighters. This was reported by the Norwegian TV channel TV2, citing sources.
Information about the transfer of fighters was confirmed by several sources of the Norwegian edition of NRK.
It is not specified how many fighter jets Norway will deliver to Ukraine and in what time frame. Oslo has not officially announced plans to send F-16s to Kyiv.
On August 20, the Netherlands and Denmark announced that they would transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine after the training of Ukrainian pilots was completed. The Netherlands will transfer 42 American fighter jets to Ukraine, Denmark – 19.
The Washington Post wrote that the training of Ukrainian pilots will begin only in January 2024, since before that they must complete four-month English courses in the UK. The training itself to fly the fighters will take another six months. However, Denmark announced on 22 August that pilot training had begun.
