The State Duma voted for amendments that allow FSB units to accept conscript military personnel into their ranks, and the Russian Guard to have volunteer formations in its ranks.
According to the document, members of the volunteer formations of the Russian Guard will be subject to benefits and social guarantees for contract soldiers of the Ministry of Defense and mobilized ones, TASS reports .
The FSB has expanded the list of departments in which, according to the law “On Conscription and Military Service”, it is possible to perform military service upon conscription, and in the law “On the Federal Security Service” a new article has appeared, “Military service on conscription in the bodies of the Federal Security Service.”
One of the authors of the amendments, head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Vasily Piskarev, said that conscripts in the FSB will primarily serve in the Border Service.
