Injury Prone Midfielder Recalled for Brazil

An injury prone midfielder will play two additional games amid his recall for Brazil for the international break.

The last thing Newcastle fans want right now is an international break. Not only because it will halt our great form in the Premier League but because the risk of further injury to our players is too high. After all, we are already undergoing an injury crisis as it is, any further injury to the squad could be very detrimental, especially with the busy festive period coming up.

For tonight’s game against Dortmund, we have 12 players ruled out of contention. This is through a mixture of injuries, suspensions and competition rules. We can only hope that our international players come back to St James Park injury free, and those who are ruled out, recover faster than anticipated.

Joelinton has been recalled to international duty with Brazil. As per Shields Gazette, this means he will now play an additional two games of international football, alongside his Newcastle midfield counterpart Bruno Guimaraes. Bruno G isn’t a concern, since he’s suspended for us anyway, but Joelinton should be watched carefully since he’s injury prone – A look at the Joelinton injury history will tell you everything you need to know.

Thankfully for us, Joelinton isn’t necessarily a crucial player for Brazil. Although there is a chance he could get some minutes and even a start, there are other Brazilian midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order, which works in our favour.
