Construction of a fabrication facility is underway in Guyana for engineering and construction solutions company Friedlander.
The subsidiary of French group Ortec was registered in the South American country in April and plans to manufacturer piping, structures and other equipment for oil and natural gas companies, according to information filed by Friedlander with Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency.
The facility also will supply the mining, energy, and food sectors.
The infrastructure is being built at Guyana Shore Base (GYSBI) which was established in 2017 to initially provide support to ExxonMobil, following the discovery of oil.
GYSBI includes water access, and its main port covers 30 acres of developed land. The industrial estate spans 140 acres.
Friedlander was part of a group Guyanese companies that traveled in May to Houston for the Offshore Technology Conference.
