A hundred modified Toyota all-terrain vehicles equipped with machine guns will be prepared for the state.
The Czech Republic and the Netherlands will produce mobile air defense systems for Ukraine to protect against drones. This was announced to Ceske Noviny by the director of the Agency for Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation (AMOS) Alesh Vitechka.
He noted that Western countries are transferring high-tech anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine, but missiles are many times more expensive for them than Iranian drones that attack Ukrainian territory.
In this regard, after consultations with Ukraine and representatives of the Czech military industry, the Czech Republic offered the Netherlands to participate in the project of mobile air defense systems.
The leader noted that they can effectively shoot down such drones using commonly available and cheap ammunition.
“The Netherlands will pay for a hundred modified Toyota all-terrain vehicles equipped with a pair of rapid-fire machine guns that can target, for example, drones. They will also purchase the necessary ammunition from Czech companies,” the publication says.
The Czech Ministry of Defense entered into an agreement with the Czech Netherlands through AMOS.
Also, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Daniel Blazhkovets, announced the production of anti-aircraft weapons for Ukraine. Prior to that, on February 14, he took part in a meeting with representatives of states providing military support to Ukraine.
SUVs will be equipped with heavy machine guns with night sights, which can hit air and ground targets.
“They can operate against medium and large drones, as well as against aircraft and helicopters at low altitudes. The effective range is up to 2 km, ”the publication says.
Recall that 19 air defense groups based on Ford F250 and Ford F350 off-road vehicles have been created in the northern directions of the defense of Ukraine, and the formation of mobile fire groups continues.
Earlier, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported what ammunition is lacking in Ukraine for air defense.
Before that, the speaker of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ignat said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have enough air defense systems to protect the entire territory of Ukraine and they are constantly moving and maneuvering so that the enemy does not have time to track their location.
